Insurance Fraud

R C Ranno Investigative Services, for twenty years, has proven to be successful with fraudulent insurance claims investigation surveillance. Our CT private detectives understands the need to stop the fraud immediately as it hurts insurance rates for those not fraudulent by increasing the costs to compensate for the losses insurance companies incur due to these crimes. Upon receiving an investigation for Insurance Fraud (Workers Compensation or Auto Liability), our investigators immediately begin conducting a pre-investigation on the file. We determine first if the information provided to us is accurate, the exact extent of the restrictions that the claimant has received from his doctor and develop a time schedule when we believe we could best observe the claimant while active.

Upon conducting the surveillance, we first arrive at the claimant’s residence, observe the residence and items outside of the residence to attempt to determine a possible level of activity. Is there a riding or push mower in the yard? Is there a snow shovel leaning against the garage? Is there an ongoing project either in the yard or on the property? Once the residence facts have been developed, our investigators then begin a canvas of the immediate area to determine which direction, or most common means of egress, the claimant would take if he or she departed from the residence. That is important because you cannot always sit on the claimant’s residence due to several factors. (1) Does the claimant reside in a rural area where there is not street parking allowed? (2) Does the claimant reside on a cul-de-sac and our presence alone could irritate the neighbors whom know the claimant has a claim? (3) Is there a school in the vicinity of the claimant’s residence that would cause a high risk alertness to our vehicles due to children being present? Because of those situations, and many others, our investigators develop the proper mapping procedures to assist us in securing an accurate investigation.

WATCH OUR INSURANCE FRAUD VIDEO:

Once a surveillance position is established, our investigators contact, out of courtesy, the local police department for the town in which we are present. That is conducted for two reasons, (1) as a professional courtesy to the police officers whom which we are sitting in their town and (2) because we do not want those same police officers to pull up on us while we are on surveillance stemming from a call into their station of a suspicious vehicle in their neighborhood. That can also expose our investigators and surveillance positions to the claimant if close enough.

After that, our investigators begin to document all of the pertinent information surrounding each investigation. Video of the claimant’s residence, street signs, items in the yard, vehicles in the driveway and parked on the street in the vicinity of the claimant’s residence. All of our video is high definition and has time and date stamp on each video clip.

Once the claimant departs from their residence, or exits from their residence to work in their yard, our investigators begin videotaping their every movement. If they depart from the residence, our investigators conduct a discreet mobile surveillance, continuing to follow the claimant to each and every location they stop, without being observed, while video documenting their each and every move. Many times, while documenting the claimant’s activities, they may not conduct any actions that dispute their insurance claim. As a third party, objective, investigative agency, we are only there to document the claimant’s activities, not create them. If a claimant is legitimately injured and is consistent with their restrictions and claim, then our reports and video will reflect just that. If they are contradicting their claim, i.e. using a crutch to enter a medical appointment and then not using it the rest of the day, our report will then reflect that as well.

Our investigators will provide our clients, insurance, private company, self insured, law offices and others, with an accurate depiction of what the claimant is up to, whether or not their injuries are legitimate and whether they are not… Upon completion of our investigations, our investigators provide our clients with a fully detailed investigative report with each movement the claimant has made, addresses of each of the stops and identifications of most of the persons interacted with. That evidence can then be used in a court of law to convict the claimant of Insurance Fraud.
